Detox Day 5- Eat Enough Carbs

Day 5!! Although during day four I was getting pretty sleepy and all the cravings were setting in, day five I made sure to eat enough in the morning to fuel my workout and again to fuel my evening watching kiddos! (I babysat two families tonight.) When you are detoxing you DO NOT want to starve yourself. The beauty of eating raw is that you can eat as much as you like because of the small amount of calories in fruits and vegetables. When reading, "80-10-10 Raw Vegan Diet" I learned that by getting 80% of your calories from fast digesting carbohydrates from fruits is the best source of energy! These carbs are perfectly paired with fiber and digest easily. Did you know that 90% of our energy goes towards just digesting food?! The easier your food is to digest the less wasted energy you will have.

There is a common misconception that fruit has too much sugar. Do not fall for this. I am completely convinced that the 80-10-10 Raw Vegan Diet is the most pristine and healthiest way to eat. It is not the most convenient however because you would have to take in extremely large volumes of food and most people do not have the time to eat that much or prepare that much. So by detoxing I have found you can still reap many benefits! The point is: I had too low of energy for day four so I stepped up my carb intake today and was again, surging with energy! So go ahead and have an orange, or an apple, or banana or two of each or 8 of each or even have all three together! Get in those good carbs!
